České Budějovice observatory was opened as the second oldest open to the public Observatory in the Czech Republic due to the then South Bohemian Astronomical Society. In the mid 1950s it was nationalized. Extension of the planetarium and cinema hall was completed in 1971. The Observatory and Planetarium are engaged in astronomical research and familiarizing the general public with astronomy and its related sciences.

Description Planetarium - the projection apparatus enables an artificial sky with sun, moon, planets, stars and the Milky Way to be projected on the dome of the auditorium. Cupola with binoculars - device allowing observation of the sun and solar system and deep sky objects in the night sky.
